2001 Tasting Notes

This is a new Syrah vineyard for us, located in the Walla Walla Valley. Cristophe Baron has been kind enough to sell us one acre of fruit from each of these two vineyards. If blind-folded and led out into one of his vineyards, you would think you were in Chateauneuf du Pape… only the gallets are deeper in his vineyard. Words simply cannot do justice to his vineyards and his farming practices. We yielded a little over 4 tons from our organically farmed two acres in 2001. (243 cases produced)

The wine is our version of a southern rhone syrah with great aromatics of bacon fat, smoked meat, sage and dried red fruits. Fleshy yet elegant the fruit and herbal notes linger on the palate and finish with plush dusty tannins.
