2001 Tasting Notes

Eaglepoint Ranch has proven to be amazing even in adverse conditions. Perched high atop a mountain side, frost never affected this vineyard as others did in our portfolio. We think you'll find this to be the best we have produced to date. The tannins are finer and riper than 2000 even with a slight increase to 50% whole cluster. We truly believe this Syrah is increasingly more complex than any Eaglepoint we have made to date. (260 cases produced)

Violet Pastilles, Huckleberry, and light tarry aromas are immediately apparent. Picks up hints of gunflint and cocoa powder as the wine opens up. Flavors mirror the aromas with hints of blue flowers reticent of grape hyacinth. Finishes with ripe blackberry and hints of green peppercorn.
