2006 Hawks Butte Syrah - 14.6% alc. Always a structured wine due to the stem inclusion and schist the vines eek out their existence in, the extremely cool vintage added great acidity to the finished wine. Crushed stones, camphor, and floral notes accent the black fruit aromas and flavors. Still tightly wound after a year and a half in bottle, the wine needs a few hours in the decanter or 5 years plus in the cellar and should be our longest lived Hawks Butte to date. |
