Les Voisins, meaning "the neighbors" in French, is a Rhone blend from McDowell Valley. The wine is comprised of 1/3 grenache, 1/3 syrah and 1/3 field blend of pelercin, aubon, durif and cariganan clones. The three blocks are planted on what is now a continuous ranch, but when planted from 1911 to 1958 were established on two different neighboring ranches. The field blend is what made up our McDowell bottling in 2005, but for the 2006 vintage we secured some of the old vine grenache and syrah to round out the blend and thus change the name to Les Voisins. |
