Spring 2013 Appellation Membership Wines

Please enjoy the following tasting notes below for all of the wines included in our Appellation Members' spring 2013 shipments. If you are interested, tasting notes for the entire 2013 Single Vineyard portfolio, offered exclusively to our Single Vineyard Members, can be read here.

2011 Tous Ensemble Chardonnay, Anderson Valley
Fermented completely in stainless-steel tanks, our Tous Ensemble Chardonnay is bright and refreshing, balancing citrus fruit with stony minerality. Tangerine and lemon peel aromas lead to a smooth and well-textured mouthfeel with vibrant acidity and gentle flavors of citrus and pear.

2012 Tous Ensemble Rosé, Anderson Valley
Composed of 100% Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley, it is bone-dry, vibrant, and refreshing. This peach-colored wine offers aromas and flavors of cherry blossoms, watermelon, and strawberry. Its bright acidity makes it all the more refreshing and a perfect complement for those warm days right around the corner.

Winemaker's Selection: 2010 Brosseau Syrah, Chalone
Fresh crunchy blueberries and raspberries with an amazing underpinning of rocky minerality only possible from this vineyard planted directly in limestone and granite. Akin to all our 2010 Syrahs, our Brosseau has brilliantly bright and fresh aromatics. Delicious and approachable now though will age in the cellar well for 8-12 years.

Single Vineyard Supplement for Appellation Members
The following wines were offered to our Appellation Members who selected the add-on Single Vineyard Supplement.

2011 Brosseau Chardonnay, Chalone
Another vibrant offering from the esteemed eponymous vineyard in the heart of the Chalone appellation, the 2011 Brosseau Chardonnay shines with bright, opulent fruit and cru Chablis character. Its supple, round texture and assertive acidity further enhance its classic charm.

2010 Kiser 'En Bas' Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley
With sumptuous fruit and exquisite structure, the 2010 Kiser 'En Bas' is a captivating wine of stunning depth and complexity. Both lush and refined, this bottling boasts a remarkable harmony and purity of fruit that will only continue to enhance, evolve, and excite for many years to come.

2010 Hawks Butte Syrah, Yorkville Highlands
As with all Copain Syrahs, Hawks Butte undergoes whole cluster fermentation and, consequently, obtains its structure from stem tannins, not from new oak. Profoundly aromatic, the 2010 Hawks Butte Syrah captivates with soft fruit which complements the herbal and savory undertones. Being from a cooler vintage, the 2010 exhibits a delicacy and finesse not often found in California Syrah.
