2010 Kiser En Haut Pinot Noir
Perched 200 feet above the ‘En Bas’ parcel, the higher Kiser ‘En Haut’
possesses more compressed sandstone than the lower block, and enjoys
further depth from bands of schist permeating the soil. The combination of the
two components gives the wine heady aromatics and notable minerality in both
aroma and flavor.
2010 began with a delayed bud break, followed by an unseasonably chilly
vintage, which facilitated slow ripening of the fruit. Despite a weeklong heat
spike, our vineyards escaped damage due to our canopy management practice
of limited leaf removal. Harvest began in late September, and in certain
vineyards, continued until early November. Our 2010 wines show pretty
aromatics, supple tannins and sound acidity.
