2012 Baker Ranch Syrah 1.5L

Large Format Bottle

Our Single Vineyard wines convey the unique qualities bestowed
by a specific vineyard during one season. We are highly selective
with our vineyards, choosing only those with the best soil, climate
and farming practices, all of which are reflected in the glass. While
exquisite now, these wines are crafted to be saved and savored
years after their release.

Vineyard Notes:

Syrah is exceedingly hard to find in the Pinot Noir-centric Anderson Valley,
though Baker Ranch dared to plant it, and it delivers with flying colors.
Sustainably farmed and wonderfully expressive, this wine offers a unique
addition to the Copain Syrah portfolio.

Vintage Notes:

The 2012 vintage was a welcome relief following the challenges of 2010
and 2011. A wet winter was balanced by a moderate, slightly dry spring,
with bud break and veraison occurring several weeks later than usual.
Bestowing optimal conditions for slow, even ripening, a long Indian summer
extended into early October. Harvest commenced approximately two
weeks later than previous years, and was
condensed into a few short weeks, with
all of our fruit in by November 1

Wine Profile:

One of our most desirable wines, the 2012 Baker Ranch Syrah
is delicate and structured, with a broad, soft palate and light body.
Evocative of the terroir-driven Syrahs of the northern Rhône, this wine
intrigues and enthralls with myriad layers of exotic spice.
