Perched 600 feet above sea level, and 150 feet above the lower ‘En Bas’ parcel, the ‘En Haut’ parcel of the renowned Kiser vineyard continues to produce some of our most compelling and elegant Pinot Noir. Located in the northern ‘Deep End’ of Anderson Valley, ‘En Haut’ is planted to the oldest soil profiles in the vineyard with 6 inches of top soil and base soils of decomposed, shale-like sandstone. The wine showcases high toned aromatics but with the nervy tannin that in time will integrate and enhance the minerality of the wine. With aromas of dried cranberry, orange peel, plum and cardamom, the 2015 Kiser ‘En Haut’ maintains the finesse and grace of previous vintages. The palate is nuanced with cranberry skin and dried cherries in tandem with layers of cinnamon stick and cloves. Those who acquire the Kiser ‘En Haut’ should consider cellaring the wine or letting it decant to let the tannins come together.
