2009 Magnum Halcon Syrah
At 2,500 feet above the valley floor in the Yorkville Highlands, this is the highest elevation vineyard in the Copain portfolio. The vines are planted directly into exposed schist, which is so thick that very little topsoil is evident in the vine rows.
2009 started with an early bud break followed by a warm spring producing small, compact clusters and berries. Warm and dry weather continued through harvest resulting in compact, healthy clusters with thick skins and an almost perfect balance of tannins and acidity.
