This Santa Barbara County site is certainly one of our most exciting new additions. Located in Ballard Canyon and situated on the hilltop above Stolpman vineyard, for those who know the area, the vines are planted in pure chalk. What soil is there is six to eight inches at best and boast an astonishingly high pH of 8.2 to 8.6, certainly our most basic soil, acid wise, in our portfolio. Words do no justice to describe these Chablis-like soils. The resulting wine is purely of the site with very clean, bright, pure flowers, great minerality, lithe palate weight and great acidity. The 50% cluster utilized is scantly noticeable other than the lifted aromatics and begs for a higher percentage in vintages to come. We surely hope you enjoy this wine as much as we are excited to share it with you. |
