Description
The Brosseau vineyard was planted in 1981, starting with Chardonnay, and is situated in the legendary Chalone AVA made famous in the Judgement of Paris in 1976. Planted in decomposed granite and limestone, coupled with the age of the vines, this vineyard produces wines with striking minerality and depth. We have had the pleasure of working with the Brosseau family since our first Syrah bottling in 2005. We have since produced Chardonnay and Grenache from this vineyard as well. On the nose, intense blueberry reduction, star anise, black fig, and clove jump out of the glass with each swirl. On the palate it is of medium weight with plush layered blackberry, peppercorn, bay leaf, and graphite flavors intermingling. This exotic wine will age for up to 10 years, but if drinking in the near term, give it about 30 minutes of air or a quick decant.
