The Brosseau vineyard was planted in 1981 in the Chalone AVA in soil that is comprised of decomposed granite and limestone. The location of the vineyard, coupled with the age of the vines, produces a rounded wine with a surprising amount of weight.
2019 was a mild growing season with a small moderate heat push toward the end of the growing season. That warmth really pushed fruit into a beautiful ripeness at the end, without pushing things too far. We can look forward to generous fruit in the wines along with great balance.
Planted in 1981 and situated in the famed Chalone AVA made famous in the Judgement of Paris in 1976, the Brosseau vineyard was the first Chardonnay we produced in 2009. Planted in decomposed granite and limestone, coupled with the age of the vines, this vineyard produces a rounded wine with a surprising amount of weight.
2019 shows what we’ve come to expect from this legendary Chalone site. Equal parts savory and fruit driven the Brosseau has incredible weight and mouthfeel without being heavy. On the nose, baking spice, pear and sage. All held upright by perfectly woven acidity.
